The Image in the Stone

 THE IMAGE IN THE STONE

16mm film to 2K video, Archival pigment prints on cotton muslin, lumen prints, 2025

The Image in the Stone is a 16mm film, lumen print and textile-based project exploring mountains and rock formations as tactile records of time. Shot in Banff National Park on hand-processed black-and-white film, the work emphasizes erosion, instability, and material transformation through flickering images, scratches, and fragmented textures. Guided by a neurodivergent sensitivity to texture, detail, and sensory perception, the project approaches the image as a mutable, physical surface rather than a fixed representation. Through analog film processes and fabric interventions including stitching, fraying, and folding, The Image in the Stone blurs the boundaries between geology, image, and object, inviting an embodied engagement with landscape.
